Warwick Valley athletics promotes students’ physical, mental, social, emotional and moral well-being. The district believes that participation in athletics contributes to a well-rounded education and provides experiences for students that help them succeed outside of school. The Warwick Wildcats compete in Section 9 of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

Warwick Athletics Joins the NFHS Network

Can’t get to the game but want to follow events in our gym?  You can watch all Warwick varsity athletics events that take place in the Warwick Valley High School New Gym by joining the NFHS Network for a small fee and logging in. Wildcats fall to Cornwall

Warwick varsity football was not able overcome a slow start in the third quarter as the Wildcats were defeated by Cornwall in the Section IX Class A semifinal at Cornwall. The Wildcats trailed 14-7 at the half, when a Brody Frederick to Dylan Sullivan 41-yard TD strike put the Wildcats on the scoreboard and Luca Siebert’s 10th interception of the season stopped a Cornwall drive at the goaline in the 2nd quarter. Warwick boys cross country competes in Section 9 Class A Championships

On Wednesday Nov. 6th, the boys cross country Purple Wave team travelled up to historic Bear Mountain State Park to take on the challenging 3.0-mile course around Hessian Lake in the Section 9 Class A Championship meet.  The team had a great race, putting an entire season worth of training to work as they placed third out of 10 schools and bettered last year’s finish position in this meet by four places. The Warwick girls varsity x-country team competed at the Section 9 Class A Championships on Wednesday. The team had marked its calendar for this date a long time ago, as they knew they had a legitimate shot at qualifying for the state championships in Queensbury, NY. Read more…

Wildcats defeat Washingtonville, season record at 8-0

Wildcats defeat Pine Bush, remain unbeaten on the season

The Wildcats defeated Pine Bush 43-28 on WVHS Senior Night to improve their undefeated record to 6-0. Warwick is currently ranked 9th in New York State by the New York State Sports Writers Association. Read more…

Warwick Valley athletics is ready to kick off the fall 2024 season. The Wildcats are seeking students who want to take on the challenge of being a student-athlete. Wildcats honored at annual Athletics award/scholarship ceremony

It was more great news out of Wildcats country recently, as the district held its annual athletics awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 11. Warwick Valley Athletics celebrated its award winners for the 2023-2024 season, along with gathered families and coaches. Join us in congratulating these hardworking Wildcats!

The following Wildcats won district athletic awards for being Warwick’s top multi-sport athletes this year: (l-r) Kelly Nevins, Erin Smith, Sierra Blanton, Katherine Finnerty, Melina Garby, Johnny Accardo, James Unger, Latrell Willis, William Siebert, Michael Accardo

Wildcats earn NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete honors

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association set the bar for scholar-athlete status, challenging them to  achieve an academic average of 90 or better during their varsity season. Warwick Valley High School Athletics is proud to announce that 346 Wildcats made the grade! (Read more…)

23rd Brian Ahearn track classic raises $2000 for local food pantry

On Saturday May 4, the Wildcats Boys & Girls Track teams hosted the 23rd Annual Ahearn Classic Invitational. The event honors the life of Brian Ahearn, a former cross-country and track runner for Warwick Valley who lost his life to cancer in 1999 at the age of 14. (Read more…)

Wildcats capture overall title at 2024 Wounded Warrior Challenge

This year’s Wounded Warrior Challenge took place on Saturday, April 27. From the moment Wounded Warrior Project speaker Jacob Norotsky addressed the audience, through every competitive matchup, it was an exciting day for all. Overall, the Wildcats prevailed and took the overall title for a third time in four years. North Rockland, however, is still the all-time leader, with five overall titles to Warwick’s three — and one tie! [Read more…]

Dylan Sullivan & Ryan Sullivan attend NYS Leadership Conference in Albany

Warwick Wildcats Ryan and Dylan Sullivan attended the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Leadership Conference on March 28 in Albany. The NYSPHSAA conference gathered together the top junior-year student-athletes in New York, with the goal of sharpening their leadership skills and enhancing the positive impact that student-athletes have on their teams, their schools and their communities.
