23rd Brian Ahearn track classic raises $2000 for local food pantry

On Saturday May 4, the Wildcats Boys & Girls Track teams hosted the 23rd Annual Ahearn Classic Invitational. The event honors the life of Brian Ahearn, a former cross-country and track runner for Warwick Valley who lost his life to cancer in 1999 at the age of 14.

Brian was an inspiration to all during his battle, even providing hope and laughter to his family and friends during his final months. Brian’s spirit lives on in the Ahearn Classic, which helped raise $2,000 this year for the Warwick Food Pantry, run by Glenn Dickes.

Thank you to all of the teams that participated and helped make this happen: Minisink, Burke, Pope John XXIII, Wallkill Valley Regional, Sachem East, Syosset, Vernon, and the Orange County Road Runners club.
