Weekly Wildcats Sports Wrap-up
Boys soccer
Ezequiel Torres, Eric Bethmann and Symon Roldan each scored two goals to lead Warwick to a 7-0 victory over Minisink Valley for the Wildcats’ first victory of the season.
James Unger also scored, and Simon Bastone had three assists for Warwick (1-1-1).

Girls soccer
Warwick dropped two games last week. Pine Bush defeated Warwick 5-1, with Katherine Finnerty scoring for Warwick and goalie Emily Bujosa making 13 saves.
The Wildcats lost to Minisink Valley 3-2.

Boys Cross Country
Warwick’s boys Varsity cross country team took on the Valley Central Vikings at home on Sept. 12 on the 3.09-mile course at Sanfordville Elementary School. The boys won the league matchup by a score of 22-39, moving to 1-0 in the Division.
The team was led by freshman RJ Dovico, who finished second in a time of 18 minutes, 53 seconds. RJ was followed by a tight pack of Jake Tannar (3rd in 19:15) Liam Astbury (4th in 19:18), Collin Freet (6th in 19:27) and AJ Kobrick (7th in 19:35). The team next travels to Rochester to compete in the John Izzo Invitational on Sept. 22.
Girls Cross Country
Warwick’s girls cross country team also defeated Valley Central at Sanfordville Elementary School on Sept. 12. Junior Alyssa Dovico placed first in a time 21:07.8 seconds to lead the Wildcats to a 21-40 victory. Other strong performances were turned in sophomore Madison Olszewski (3rd in 23:11), 8th grader Trixie Wendell (4th in 23:17), freshman Julia Schlesinger (6th in 24:08) and freshman Natalie Eger (7th in 25:03).
Next up for the girls is a race Sept. 19 against James I. O’Neill at Bear Mountain State Park. On Sept. 23, the team will cross the border into New Jersey, where they will compete at the Six Flags Safari Showcase.
Volleyball
The Wildcats volleyball team split a pair of matches last week. Warwick beat Pine Bush 26-24, 22-25, 26-24, 25-20. For Warwick (2-1), Erin Smith had 17 kills and two blocks, Hallie Hansen had 17 assists and eight kills and Adriana Nicosia had 33 digs.
Warwick traveled to Kingston and lost there in five games: 22-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 15-11.
Girls tennis
The Wildcats kept their record perfect with 7-0 victories over both James I. O’Neill and Monticello.
Football
Goshen defeated visiting Warwick 18-6 to win the Spirt Trophy on Sept. 14. The Wildcats next play at Monticello at 1 p.m. on Sept. 23.

Girls Swimming
Warwick defeated Wallkill 105-58 and lost to Monroe-Woodbury 103-78.
Against Wallkill, Sydney McSweeney and Zoe Link both placed first in two individual events and were members of the winning 200-yard medley relay.
McSweeney won the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 35.66 seconds, and also finished first in the 100 backstroke. Link was first in the 100 freestyle (1:07.61) and 100 breaststroke (1:25.93).
Other winners for the Wildcats were: Ciara Kelly in the 50 freestyle (28.31) and Talia Potempa in diving (167.30 points). Kelly and Millie Pritchard were also on the winning 200 medley relay.
In the Monroe-Woodbury meet, Maeve Wright won two events and was on the winning 400 freestyle relay team. Wright finished first in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 2:08.90. She won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.06.
McSweeney placed second in the 50 freestyle (26.99) and 100 freestyle (59.17) against M-W.
