WVMS Wildcats present Week 5 honors to two teachers

The WVMS Wildcats modified football team continued its gratitude and recognition campaign — My Jersey, Your Impact — this week.

For the fifth week, two Wildcat football players presented their jersey’s to a teacher to say “thank you” for making a memorable and meaningful impact on their lives! The jerseys are shared on gamedays, and teacher can either display them in their classrooms or even wear them. This week, we have…

Anthony Spinelli, WR (#12)
In his first year with the team, eighth-grader Anthony is a starting receiver. He is the type of team player his coaches can always rely on, who always puts forth his best effort, never misses practice, and, as Coach Botta pointed out, “is always in the lead when the team runs laps, sprints and hills!”

Anthony chose to present his jersey to his French teacher, Mr. Justiana. Anthony had Mr. J for seventh grade, and is glad to be in his class (en francais… classe) again this year. He chose Mr. J for his kindness, sense of humor, funny and the care he shows for his students. Mr. J spoke highly of Anthony as a student and young man, and was proud to display his #12 jersey!

Jameson McCormick, OL/DL (#21)
Another eighth-grade, first-year Wildcat, Jameson is a utility lineman for the modified team! Jameson has lined up on both sides of the ball — offensive and defensive. Jamo, as his teammates call him, is a confident player who’s never intimidated and gives 100% every time someone shouts, “hike!” Jameson coaches say he puts in the work and plays with a respect for the game, his teammates, coaches and opponents that is wonderful to see. Coach Botta appreciates how Jamo is “a hard working player who soaks everything up like a sponge!”

Jameson chose to give his jersey to his seventh and eighth-grade social studies teacher, Mr. Zwart, who he respects and appreciates for his sense of humor, and how it makes the learning atmosphere in his class so enjoyable.
