WVHS seniors recognized for outstanding artistic achievement

Warwick Valley High School seniors Erin Eicher and Timothy Leonard were among 34 honorees from mid-Hudson school districts recognized at the 2022 Orange-Ulster BOCES Senior Scholar Humanities Breakfast on June 6 at Kuhl’s Highland House in Middletown.

The Senior Scholar Humanities Breakfast is coordinated each year by the Orange-Ulster BOCES Division of Instructional Support. The students, their parents, teachers, high school principals, superintendents, and BOCES administration were invited to celebrate the students’ outstanding accomplishments in the areas such as fine arts, theater, music and fashion.

WVHS Humanities Honorees

Erin specializes in figure drawing and sequential art. Ms. Eicher won the 2022 Lower Hudson Regional Media Arts Teacher Association Presidential Award, RIT Creativity and Innovation Award, and the Warwick P.R.I.D.E Art Contest.
Erin is also a self-published graphic novelist who participates in Warwick Maker’s Market, where she  sells prints of her artwork for the Warwick Valley Community Center. After high school, Erin will attend the School of Visual Arts in New York City on a scholarship where she plans to earn a degree in fine arts with a major in cartooning.
Timothy is a multi-talented musician who plays bass, drums, guitar, and multiple percussive instruments and also designs album covers. Timothy is a member of Wire Choir, Ebony String Ensemble and the National Honor Society. He has been recognized through his participation in NYSSMA All County, Area All State ensembles in band and orchestra.
Timothy received Warwick Valley Superintendent’s Artist of the Week Award and the Sojourner Truth Award for Excellence in the Arts. After high school, Mr. Leonard will attend William Paterson University’s Honors College where he will major in jazz performance and music.
