GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Coming off a decisive victory over Washingtonville on April 16, the Warwick girls track and field team had a night of great performances at the Mountie Madness Invitational on April 19, in Suffern. 

Lily Beattie set a new meet record in the pole vault with a jump of 12 feet, 9 inches. Hannah Cann set a huge personal record (PR) in the long jump with a mark of 17-00.75. Lillybeth Kurosz also set a new PR in the long jump with a mark of 15-10.5 The dynamic duo of Beattie and Cann joined forces with Taylor Secord and Katherine Finnerty to run the 4x100m relay team to victory with a time of 51.05. 

Natalie Eger set the tone for the distance squad by dropping over 20 seconds off her previous record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:58.51. Alyssa Dovico ran seconds off her last 1,500m record, setting a new PR in 5:05.77. Trixie Wendell also had a stellar performance in the 800m run with a new PR of 2:32.35. 

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

On Friday evening April 19th the Boys Varsity Track & Field team took to the lights for a night meet at the Mountie Madness Invite hosted by Suffern High School.  The team did tremendously well and was highlighted with performances by senior Eli Fiol taking 2nd in the 400IH with a time of 61.91.  Fellow teammates freshman Isaiah Gonzalez leaped to a personal best 18’11” in the long jump and distance runners Leo Shostal, Collin Freet, Hank Wendell, Jake Tannar and Liam Astbury all broke the prestigious 5 minute barrier in the mile.

Tuesday April 22nd saw home dual meet action vs Pine Bush and the Wildcats were led once again by sophomore team Captain Luke Beattie as he tied a school record in the 100m dash with a time of 10.5 tying his father’s record from 1986.  Luke also set a school record in the 200m dash with a time of 21.2 which betters the all-time marks of 21.7 held by Rich Beattie (1986) and Nick Longfellow (2009). Sophomore Klaus Lindenau added to the excitement with a Pole Vault win of 13′ and long jump points with a leap of 17’10 ¼”

BOYS LACROSSSE

Dylan Sullivan scored four goals to pace Warwick past Cornwall 19-2 on April 24., Joey Finn had three goals and Matt Sansone two for host Warwick, which had 13 different goal scorers. Sansone’s goals included the 100th of his career.

Warwick defeated Pearl River 13-10 behind four goals and one assist from Darren Vogt on April 22. Sansone and Ryan Sullivan each had three goals for the Wildcats. Luke Solari made nine stops.

BOYS TENNIS

Warwick defeated Middletown 5-2 on April 24 to boost it season record to 5-2. Warwick eighth grader Denis McAteer defeated Anthony Russo at No. 1 singles 6-4, 7-5. At No. 3 singles, Owen Beauregard beat Arman Haener 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The Wildcats swept the doubles matches.

McAteer improved his record to 3-4 with the victory and Beauregard has 5-2 season record. The No. 1 doubles team of Evan Grundfast and Owen Durgin and the No. 2 doubles team of Connor Brogan and Jackson Miceli are both 6-1.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Warwick battled back from a 20-0 deficit to tie Middletown 20-20 on April 19. The Wildcats lost to Valley Central 19-13 on April 22.
