Congratulations to the 34 Warwick Valley musicians selected to the 2024 Orange County Music Educators Association Elementary All-County Festival ensembles! 

 

To earn a selection to an OCMEA ensemble, students must prepare a solo piece for an audition, which also includes sight reading and scales performed in multiple keys and octaves. Students often begin preparing their audition materials months ahead of time. 

 

  

The OCMEA All-County Elementary Festival is a two-day event, during which students participate in rehearsals on Friday and Saturday, leading up to the performance on Saturday evening.

 

 

“This year’s festival took place at Newburgh Free Academy, where the students got to work with guest conductors and play with their musical peers from schools across the county,” said WVMS chorus teacher Shane Peters. “The students prepare a full concert in just three rehearsals!”
