Sanfordville hosts annual STEM Fair

On Wednesday January 24, Sanfordville Elementary School was transformed into a carnival for its STEM Fair. Students were tasked with designing a STEM project that uses the Engineering Design Process to create their very own Carnival/Arcade Game!  The students’ embraced that task fully and lined the hallways with 96 entries, which was almost double the amount of entries from the previous year’s STEM Fair. Ms. Besimer and Ms. Cancel served as our masters of ceremonies for the event.

When our guests entered the Sanfordville lobby they were greeted by some of our staff volunteers who passed out tickets and a pamphlet that contained all of the information they would need to navigate the halls of Sanfordville.

With the 96 entries in this year’s STEM Fair, students were able to participate in Skee Ball, Whack a Mole, H2O Tic Tac Toe, Plinko, Pop a Shot, PAWS themed Maze game, Claw machines, and many other types of carnival games.  The hallways were filled with laughter, smiling faces, and tons of eager anticipation to see what prize(s) people would win.

Sanfordville families were treated to more than just food upon entering the Sanfordville cafeteria. Once people entered the cafeteria, they were treated to carnival activities, such as “Pick a Pop”, “Drop Cup”, “Lucky Duck” and “Guess How Many”.  

The smell of freshly popped popcorn wafting through the SES hallways enticed our guests to enter the gym hallway.  After picking up their freshly popped treat, our guests were able to enter the gym to see what surprises it had to offer.  Upon entering the gym, guests were greeted by the Sanfordville PTA,  Warwick HS Robotics Club,  Warwick HS Art Club, Mr. Hall’s NASA display, Allendale Machinery, and Pixie Pop.

As always, Sanfordville is grateful for the help and support from everyone (students, parents, teachers and staff, PTA, and all of the volunteers) that helped make this event a huge success.  Stay tuned for next year’s STEM fair!
