Park Avenue LEGO League Jr. team wraps up a brick-tastic season
Congratulations, Logan, Gavin, Ewa, Gianna, Mateo and Carmine! They’re the members of the Park Avenue LEGO League, Jr. team, which just completed its 2023-2024 challenge this week!
They wrapped up their season by presenting their impressive LEGO creations to an audience of faculty and administration during a presentation/unveiling on Thursday.
BRICK-TASTIC work, everyone!
The team undertook the “Masterpiece!” challenge this season. The challenge included researching different hobbies and activities that people love, and then choosing eight unique pastimes to represent in LEGO bricks. The team also had to meet very specific challenges laid out by the LEGO League Jr. rubric (or, is that “rubrick?!”). Much of the creative and practical direction given to the LEGO League Jr. team was very similar to the challenges posed to teams on the popular tv competition show LEGO Masters.
For example, the Park Avenue team’s build had to include…
- a scene that included a stage in its story, and…
- motorized parts to create motion.
When the students were asked what they enjoyed most about the challenge, they said that their SECOND favorite part of the challenge had been getting to work with LEGO bricks (“Obviously,” they pointed out, “because we ALL do it home!”). But they said that their favorite part, unanimously, was their collaboration — they said they all loved working together toward their goals!
LEGO League advisor Amanda Cangialosi could not be more proud of the innovators, creators, and collaborators on this year’s LEGO League Jr! Way to go everyone.
BRICK-tastic work!!
