Community Message: June 18. 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,
New York has issued a heat advisory with warnings of heat index values between 95 and 100, accompanied by high humidity. These conditions are forecasted to continue into the evening of Thursday, June 20. As we brace for these conditions, please know that all Warwick Valley Central School District buildings are air-conditioned, and that our schools will follow a regular dismissal schedule. Through recent capital projects, our District has been able to enhance our buildings’ ventilation and air conditioning, and we will continue to monitor their effectiveness during these hot days.
We will also be continually monitoring temperatures to ensure the best choices regarding scheduled outdoor activities for student safety and comfort. Activities will be moved indoors when necessary, based on current weather conditions. Our faculty and staff continue to emphasize the importance of staying hydrated, and will encourage students to drink plenty of water during frequent water breaks. We ask parents and caregivers to have your student come to school with a refillable water bottle, and to wear light, loose-fitting clothes this week.
As always, our main concern is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact your student’s school office.
As a reminder, WVCSD will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth.
