The Warwick Valley High School physical education staff places a major emphasis on promoting physical fitness in grades 9 – 12. Our fitness unit includes physical concepts and activities to promote muscular flexibility, strength and endurance, cardiovascular fitness and body composition awareness. In addition, the physical education department provides the students with a wide variety of individual, team and life time sport activities. The following is a list of some activities offered throughout the year:

All 9th – 10th grade students are required to participate in water safety that includes instruction in stroke mechanics, diving, distance swimming and basic life support techniques. Students are also required to complete the National Assessment in Physical Fitness.
Students of Physical Education earn numerical grades based on attendance, preparedness, participation and conduct. Grades are included in student class rank and overall grade point average. Students who are medically excused or require additional support are accommodated by the staff and given the opportunity to obtain PE credit.
