WVMS grade 7 & 8 musicians wrap up holiday concert season with a bow
On Tuesday night in the WVHS auditorium, the WMVS 7th & 8th Grade Winter Concert brought the holiday music series to a festive close. The 7th grade band opened the evening with Dark Fortress Overture, and were followed by the 7th grade orchestra and a great rendition of the movie song Avatar.

The 7th grade chorus came next, and began their set with One More Song, by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. The song featured solos by Trixie Wendell, Samantha Santiago, Kayli Decker, and Fiona Sezack, and percussion by Dylan Bess, Annabella Nguyen, and Jane Cornelius. Next, the chorus shared its interpretation of the Adele song Easy On Me. The song This Little Light Inside Medley included solos by Jenny Walker, Belle Redling, Anya Campbell, Grace Cannariato, Alexa Dukes, Stephen Kitar, Eva Pina, Devin Torino-Margolis, and Aubrey Wright.

The 7th grade band then performed As the Robin to the Meadow, followed by Celtica, by the 7th grade orchestra. All three of the 7th grade ensembles then joined together for a number called A Holiday Sing-Along.
The 8th grade band came on next, opening with a song called Critical Mass. The 8th grade orchestra followed with Danza. The 8th grade chorus caught everyone’s attention with their poppy opener, the MIKA song Grace Kelly, and followed it up two more Lin-Manuel Miranda compositions. Dos Oruguitas featured percussionists Juliette Cloutier, Isabella Costanza, and Madison Lijoi, and vocal solos from Aveline Gujar and Ashlyn Brown. Helpless featured soloists Emmerson Powers, Zoe Ham, Miles Allen, Madison Lijoi, Gianna Sganga, with Ashlyn Brown and Samantha Corcoran on percussion.

The 8th grade band then played Linden Lea, followed by the song Siberian Sleigh Ride by the 8th grade orchestra. The orchestra was joined by Madison Lijoi on guitar, Jane Cornelius on piano, Caiden Kirwan on drums, Anika Brezina, Grace Carter, Nina Cirillo, Isabella Costanza, and Peyton Komorsky on violins, and Ashlyn Brown and Abigail Sorrell on cello.
The combined 8th grade band, orchestra and chorus also wrapped things up with A Holiday Sing-Along.
Tonight’s directors — Ms. Brown, Mr. Peters, and Mr. Van de Water — are so proud of their students for all of their hard work and wonderful performances. Thank you to district administration, faculty and staff, and to the parents of Warwick. We appreciate everyone’s support of music education and performance in our schools.
