WVMS Wildcats honor two more teachers with jerseys

September 28, 2023

The WVMS Wildcats modified football team continued its gratitude and recognition campaign — My Jersey, Your Impact — this week, as a way to say “thank you” to some of the teachers who have made a memorable and meaningful impact on their lives!

Each week, two of our Wildcat football players share their jersey’s with a teacher of their choice, whose guidance has meant something to them during their middle school experience. The jerseys are shared on gamedays, and teacher can either display them in their classrooms or even wear them!

This week, we have…

Nick Ramos
RB/LB

Nick is a returning Wildcat, and is playing both sides of the ball in his eighth grade year as the team’s running back and linebacker. Nick put in the work to improve on his already solid skills since last season. He shows great pursuit and always seems to be involved in the play. Nick is an early favorite to lead the Wildcats in tackles this season.

Nick chose Mr. Peters because he’s been “the best music teacher I ever had.” Nick had Mr. Peters for General Music, and thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Peters’ sense of humor.

Mr. Peters was proud to display Nick’s #7 jersey.

Preston Dwyer
QB

Last spring, Preston was the ace of the Wildcats modified baseball pitching staff as a seventh grader. Now an eighth grader — and in his first year of football — Preston is leading the modified football team as its starting quarterback. Preston has a strong arm, a tight spiral, and a natural ability to throw on the run. Having Preston under center has opened up the Wildcats’ playbook, and has transformed the team’s offense to what Coach Botta calls an “air raid offense”.

Preston chose Mr. Zwart, his seventh grade social studies teacher, with whom he bonded over a shared interest in sports. But primarily, Preston said, Mr. Zwart was a really nice person and a good role model. Mr. Zwart, a Wildcat booster through and through, shared that Preston reminds him of 2023 Warwick grad and star quarterback Joey Krasniewicz!

Mr. Zwart was proud to display Preston’s #13 jersey.

Once again, we have repeat honorees this week. Both Mr. Peters and Mr. Zwart (as you may read here) were previously selected by Wildcat players for their impacts!

Go, Wildcats! Go, teachers! Go, Wildcat teachers!
