WVMS ukulele club raises $5K+ for charity

June 7, 2023
Congratulations to the Warwick Valley Ukulele Club on another successful year.
The club held its yearly benefit concert on Tuesday evening, entertaining an enthusiastic crowd inside the middle school cafetorium. Including last night’s donations, the club has exceeded its fundraising goal for the year! Mr. Peters and the students will be donating $5,552.22 to DKMS, an organization working to put an end to blood cancers and other blood disorders.
“Thank you to everyone who supported the club this year; it was truly a community effort,” said Mr. Peters. “This is all dues to the support of local businesses, parents, and community members, and, of course, the hard work of the students.”
In addition to the monetary donation, the club has partnered with DKMS to register 118 community members to become bone marrow and stem cell donors. For more information about DKMS and how to become a bone marrow/stem cell donor, visit www.dkms.org.
As soon as the final note faded out last night, the club members were already excited to begin planning performances and events for the 2023-2024 school year. Stay tuned to find out about more opportunities to support the WVMS Ukulele Club.
