WVHS juniors recognized for outstanding artistic achievement

Warwick Valley High School juniors Olivia Samberg and Sara Venter were among 34 honorees from mid-Hudson school districts recognized at the 2024 Orange-Ulster BOCES Humanities Honoree Awards Breakfast on March 19 at the Country Club at Otterkill in Campbell Hall.

The Humanities Breakfast is coordinated each year by the Orange-Ulster BOCES Division of Instructional Support. The students, their parents, teachers, high school principals, superintendents, and BOCES administration were invited to celebrate the students’ outstanding accomplishments in the areas such as fine arts, theater, music and fashion.

Olivia’s passion for music, cultivated since elementary school, shines brightly through her dedication to mastering instruments and exploring new musical horizons in her free time. Olivia is an incredibly talented musician that has been invited to participate in All-County and other musical festivals.

Olivia’s unwavering commitment to her musical journey embodies the essence of artistic growth that showcases the transformative power of dedication and love for one’s craft. There is no doubt that she will excel in her aspirations to study jazz music.

Sara embodies the epitome of academic excellence and leadership as an honors student who continually strives to be the best version of herself. She has earned the National Rural and Small Town Award through the National Merit Recognition Program in addition to an honorable mention in the Scholastic Key Award Program.

She sets a standard of achievement that resonates throughout her school community. Sara is also an extremely talented artist and musical performer and plans to pursue a degree in the arts.
