WVCSD closed on Wednesday, June 28

The Warwick Valley Central School District regrets to inform you that all school buildings, facilities, and outdoor venues will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, June 28.

As you may know, our district leases a property adjacent to the Transportation Garage on Route 1A to Convergent Energy. Unfortunately, there was a fire in their battery storage units, resulting in heavy smoke and burning plastics. Our students, faculty, and staff’s safety is our top priority. As a precaution, we have decided to close all schools, outdoor venues, and offices for the remainder of the day today and tomorrow, Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

The Warwick Fire Department is currently on the scene, working diligently to contain the situation. We are closely coordinating with them and will continue to follow their guidance and recommendations. Our team will also be monitoring the situation closely, providing regular updates as new information becomes available. These updates will be communicated through our official channels, including the district’s website, social media accounts, and direct notifications when necessary.
