Wildcats Fall Sports Update (Oct. 7, 2024)
FOOTBALL
Warwick Valley football defeated FDR in Hyde Park on Friday night, making the Wildcats 5-0 on the season! A team effort led to the 35-14 victory, in a divisional win that represents an important step as Warwick entered league play.
Warwick defense was paced by strong play in the secondary, led by senior Luca Siebert who intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble from his safety position. Junior defensive back Matt Abel continues to impress, and is coming on as one of the division’s top defensive backs. Abel intercepted a pass and contributed three tackles. Senior defensive linemen Anthony Roe and Matt Lupkovich each had a sack, as the Wildcats defense held FDR to two scores. Senior defensive back Colton Senius led the team with eight tackles, while Wyatt Vreeland contributed eight tackles and Luca Siebert seven. Grant Havell played another outstanding game on defense from his linebacker position.
Warwick scored 35 points early, led by QB Brody Frederick who completed 11 of 15 passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 66 yards. Senior QB Domenico Berlingieri completed four of five for 49 yards and rushed for 25 yards. Ryan and Dylan Sullivan combined for 261 yards receiving. Dylan led all receivers with six catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan contributed six catches for 115 yards. Aaron Callender scored two touchdowns and Mohamad Najafipour carried the ball seven times for the Wildcats. Senior RB Sonny Miceli caught a touchdown on the goal line for Warwick.
The Wildcats special teams continued to shine, as Cole Haskew was a perfect 5-5 on extra points. Giacomo Abbate had 30 punt return yards and Kevin Ginley and Logan Conley continued to shine on kick-offs with two solo tackles.
Warwick returns home to take on Pine Bush on Thursday night, October 10 at 7:00 pm in a non-league game.
GIRLS SOCCER
Charlotte Wendt and Angeliak Quadrino each scored two goals to lead Warwick to a 7-1 victory over Monticello on Sept. 30. The team honored its seniors before the game.
Kaitlyn Larney, Miranda Wright and Keegan Armistead also had goals for the Wildcats.
Warwick shut out Cornwall 6-0 for their second victory of the week on Oct. 4. Johannah Bradley had three goals, Samara Beauregard scored twice and Ciara Currid scored one goal.
BOYS SOCCER
Symon Roldan scored twice and Dylan Gjersten had nine saves in a 3-2 loss to Delaware Valley, Pa., on Oct. 4. Earlier in the week, Warwick lost to Cornwall 3-1. Joel Andoh scored and Dylan Gjersten had 13 stops.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
On Saturday October 5, the Boy X-Country team travelled to Brewster High School to compete The Purple Wave used a 16-second 2-5 spread to take second overall in the 46th Annual Brewster Bear Invitational on Oct. 5 The Wildcats were the top New York team in the 15-team race, finishing only behind Haddam-Killingworth of Connecticut.
The Wildcats had their best race of the season thus far. The team was led by freshman Leo Shostal, who finished in third-place in 16:24.1 over the 5K course. Rounding out the rest of the varsity squad were RJ Dovico, Alex Kobrick, Jake Cosco, Collin Freet and Liam Astbury. The team next takes on Minisink Valley in a division battle at Minisink on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
The girls team took on the Wizards at Washingtonville on Oct. 1. The team knew it would be a tough battle and secured the victory by conquering the famous Woodchuck Hill and winning by a score of 24-31.
On Saturday, October 5th, the Lady Wildcat Harriers travelled up to Saratoga for an Invitational Meet in the Capital District. The freshmen team took first place. Trixie Wendell scorched the field in a time of 12:45 over a two-mile course. Her teammates Anna Kane, Johanna Beauchamp, Talia Walker, and Zoe Chocallo all ran tough, and took home the team gold.

The varsity squad of Alyssa Dovico, Alexa Keys, Julia Schlesinger, Madison Olszewski, Natalie Eger, Brielle Isernia, and Juliet Cloutier placed third in their race. They were edged out by Niskayuna, and Mount Academy. Next up for the team is a dual meet at Minisink Valley on Tuesday.

Warwick girls cross country freshman with their plaque and medals.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Ciara Kelly finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (28.42) and 200 freestyle (2:14.03) to power the Wildcats to a 114-67 victory over FDR on Oct. 1. The team combined for nine PRs and two season-best, times.
Talia Potempa won the diving competition with a score of 199.80, which qualifies her for the Section 9 championships. The podium finishes were eight gold seven silver and eight bronze.

VOLLEYBALL
Genevieve Boyle had 11 kills and four digs in a 25-16, 25-15, 25-23 loss to Monroe-Woodbury on Sept. 30. Peyton Komorsky had 10 assists and two kills, and Alexa Hansen had three kills and three digs.
