Warwick Valley athletics announces opening day practice times for spring sports
Warwick Valley athletics is ready to kick-off the 2025 spring sports season. The district is seeking students who want to take on the challenge of being a student-athlete. Bring great effort, dedication and a school approved physical to join the Warwick Athletic family.
Most importantly, don’t miss your teams’ first practice or meeting. Varsity and JV spring teams will begin practice Monday, March 17. Middle school teams begin on or around March 24 (weather dependent).
Complete Paperwork Online: Register on Family ID and upload a physical (dated on or after March 1, 2024 to be eligible for the spring of 2025), health history forms, and other necessary information prior to the season start date.

Golf (Boys and Girls)
Warwick varsity boys and girls golf will begin on Monday, March 24th. Meet at the front lawn of Warwick High School with your clubs. Email Coach Peter Scheuermann (boys) pscheuermann@wvcsd.org or Jeff Jacobsen (girls) jjacobsen@wvcsd.org for additional information if needed.
Baseball
Varsity and JV baseball tryouts will begin on March 17th on the varsity or jv baseball field from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM (weather permitting). Athletes should come prepared to practice outside or inside. Contact varsity baseball coach Eric Rosa if additional information is needed at erosa@wvcsd.org. Modified baseball will have an informational meeting March 3rd beginning at 2:40 PM in the middle school gym. Bus passes will be provided. Modified baseball tryouts will begin on March 24th weather permitting at 3 PM at the MS. If additional information is needed contact coach Robert Maslanka at rmaslanka@wvcsd.org.
Softball
Varsity and JV softball will begin on March 17th on the varsity softball field at 3 PM (weather permitting) middle school softball players will be included in this tryout for the first three days. Athletes should come prepared to practice both outside or inside. Contact varsity softball coach Matt Carcaterra if additional information is needed at mcarcaterra@wvcsd.org. Modified softball and jv softball will have an informational meeting March 4th beginning at 3 PM in the Middle School cafeteria. Bus passes will be provided. Boys Tennis
Varsity and JV tennis will begin on March 17th beginning at 3 PM on the tennis courts next to the middle school. Athletes should bring a racquet, water and sneakers, and be ready to try out. Email Coach John Garcia jgarcia@wvcsd.org if you have not signed up.
Outdoor Track and Field
Boys varsity outdoor track and field will begin on Monday, March 17th at the Tim St. Lawrence Track. The boys practice will be held from 2:55 – 4:55 PM contact Head Coach Mike Potter at mpotter@wvcsd.org if additional information is needed and please join remind at https://www.remind.com/join/waveboys25. Girls varsity track will meet in the Hall of Champions at 2:55 PM with practice to follow. Contact Coach Kirk Thomas at kathomas@wvcsd.org if additional information is needed Athletes should be ready to practice with sneakers, water and appropriate dress for an outside practice. Middle school (modified) track will begin on March 24th with a meeting in the middle school gym from 2:45 PM – 3:30 PM. Boys Lacrosse
Varsity and JV boys lacrosse will begin on March 17th with tryouts at Hudson Sports Complex from 3:15 – 5:30 PM. Varsity questions should be directed to coach Tom Kelly at tkelly@wvcsd.org. The junior varsity will be having a meeting on 3/14 at 10:45 AM in the high school room 161 (this meeting is for high school students only). Middle school candidates for jv lacrosse should attend the modified meeting in the ms for information. Questions regarding junior varsity boys lacrosse should be directed to coach Gregory Sirico Jr at gsirico3@wvcsd.org. Modified boys lacrosse will have a meeting on March 5 during lunch in room A – 10. Practice will begin on March 24th from 3:30 – 5:30 PM at Sanfordville elementary school. A bus will be available for transport at 3 PM in front of Warwick middle school.
Girls Lacrosse
Varsity and JV girls lacrosse will begin on March 17th with tryouts at the Hudson Sports Complex from 3:15 – 5:30 PM. A meeting for all varsity, JV and modified players will be held on March 5th at 3 PM in the middle school gym. Bus passes will be provided for transportation home. Contact Coach Denis O’Connor with questions regarding girls lacrosse at doconnor@wvcsd.org. Modified Girls Lacrosse first practice is scheduled for March 27th at Sanfordville from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. Questions regarding modified girls lacrosse should be addressed to Coach Patricia Gillen at pgillen@wvcsd.org. A bus will be available for transport at 3 PM in front of Warwick middle school.
Crew Club
Crew has begun their training. Questions regarding the crew club team can be addressed to warwickcrew@gmail.com.
Flag Football
Varsity Girls Flag Football will begin on March 17th with the first practice set for 4 PM – 5:30 PM at Park Avenue elementary school. Athletes interested in flag football should attend practice with cleats, water and appropriate clothing. Subject to indoor practice pending weather.
