Warwick artists stand out at annual Orange Arts Council showcase

February 16, 2024

Nine Warwick artists had their work exhibited during the 13th Annual Arts Build Confidence showcase on Saturday, February 10, 2024. The event was hosted by the Orange County Arts Council at the Galleria at Crystal Run, and included original pieces in a variety of media by art students from more than a dozen area high schools. Digital collections of artwork by elementary and middle school artists, including Warwick Valley Middle School and Sanfordville Elementary, were also displayed.

You can check out THREE galleries of WVHS, WVMS and Sanfordville student submissions below this story!

Warwick artist Lalita Krishnamoorthy (whose work you may recall from this Artist of the Week profile) won second place in the People’s Choice Award category for a piece entitled “Birthday Wish!”

The Warwick Valley High School artists who displayed their art during this year’s showcase were:

  • Alexis Hayden, “Key to the New Realm”
  • Aveline Gujar, “Peacock”
  • Julianna Browning, “Black Bird”
  • Brooke Squillante, “Green Gecko”
  • Razeen Raja, “The Famished Walk”
  • Dania Barillas, “Vision Of My Youth”

Additionally, Oceane Wuttke entered her hand sewn flutter sleeve mini regency dress into the fashion category of the showcase. Oceane even walked the runway in her design during the fashion show portion of the afternoon.

A number of the Warwick students whose works were featured in the Orange Arts showcase, were also recently honored at the regional Scholastic Art Awards Competition, held on February 2 at SUNY New Paltz. You can read about that event here.
