Ukulele Club Benefit Concert
The Warwick Valley Middle School Ukulele Club Benefit Concert last week was a huge success. The students sounded great and raised more than $4,300 the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation and towards creating comfort carts for oncology wards.
More than 200 people came out to hear the students play more than 21 songs. There was also a raffle for gift baskets. The club raised a total of $7,500 during the school year. Students stayed after school one day this week to go “shopping” for the comfort carts, which will be delivered over the summer.
“Each year moving forward, the Ukulele Club will raise money for an organization that touches the lives of members of the Warwick community,” club director and WVMS teacher Shane Peters. “Giving back is what it’s all about!”
Next year the Ukulele Club will be raising money for DKMS, an organization working to end blood cancer.
