Thanksgiving traditions bring history to life at Park Avenue
The first grade classes at Park Avenue have been learning about American life and Thanksgiving traditions “then vs. now.”
Students have been rotating between the first grade classrooms to take part in different hands-on learning activities that highlight early American skills and traditions. Some of the activities included butter churning, quilting, sewing, house building, farming, and writing with a quill.
The students said it was fun to learn the old ways of doing things and to compare those antiquated techniques to the processes used today. They also agreed that they were THANKFUL for pencils, and to not have to sew their own clothes or make their own butter!
Happy Thanksgiving from the Park Avenue first grade students.
