Seventh-grader Tommy Ronan wins March Madness Reading Competition
Warwick Valley Middle School seventh grader Tommy Ronan won the March Madness Reading Competition by reading more than 40 books last month.
“With this year’s schedule, we haven’t had as much in-class time for independent reading, so I decided to start the March Madness Competition,” his teacher Amanda Wright said. “Tommy won by just three books, and overall read almost 1,000 pages more than his opponent. They both did such an incredible job! Tommy won a prize for his awesome efforts and made his Delta teachers very proud.”
Students submitted a Google Form every Sunday in March stating what book(s) they read, how many pages they read and a brief summary of their reading. The students were paired up in groups of two, and each week the students who were “eliminated” participated in a redemption round for a second chance at the prize.
