Sensory upgrades coming to Sanfordville Elementary
Students in Sanfordville Elementary School are hop, skip and jump away from improving their focus in class.
Thanks to grants from the Stewart’s Foundation and Walmart, the school will soon adorn its Berry Patch Hallway with vinyl decals to create a sensory pathway.
A sensory pathway is a colorful, creative and playful way for young students to strengthen the connections in their brain that help them tackle lessons or tasks.
“We are so excited to be adding our new sensory pathway to our Berry Patch Hallway. Movement is so important for our young learners,” Sanfordville Elementary School Principal Johanna Maraias said. “Movement breaks that are scattered throughout the school day will help students maintain their focus, integrate learning across both of the brain’s hemispheres, enter information into memory and avoid feeling overwhelmed or information overload.”
The decals will be delivered to the school sometime in mid-October.
