WVHS Scholarship Info Night… Coming up on January 31

January 11, 2024

Dear Class of 2024 families,

The WVHS Counseling Department invites you to the annual Scholarship Information Night, coming up on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 7:00pm in the WVHS Auditorium. In the event of bad weather, the session will be presented virtually. Your student will receive a link as the event draws near, via their WVCSD email.

We will share information regarding:

  • local scholarships
  • Orange County scholarships
  • NYS scholarships

District counselors will show you where students all of the steps required to apply, as well as where to obtain scholarship information and research scholarship criteria, including important deadlines.

A representative will also be on hand from the Community Foundation of Orange & Sullivan. There are many scholarships available to WVHS students through the foundation, which manages funds established by individuals, families, businesses and organizations. These scholarships are meant to assist high school, college, career and technical school students, and even adults in continuing ed. The representative will go over all of the steps of the application process via their portal.

Your child can use a variety of sources to search for scholarships, including the additional information posted in the Guidance Class of 2024 Google Classroom. We strongly recommend that students pay close attention to additional announcements, and that you encourage your student to apply for any and all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Please complete the 2024 Scholarship Info Night Registration Form by Friday, January 26.

The January 31 presentation will last approximately an hour and a half, and we recommend that your child bring his/her Chromebook to the presentation. We hope to see you at this important event, as we continue to plan and assist your student with post-high school planning.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your student’s school counselor

Sincerely,

Mary Fox
Director of Guidance and School Counseling
