Sanfordville Elementary School is designed to accommodate 725 kindergarten through fourth grade students. The school, situated on over 100 acres of beautiful farmland, serves students who live mostly in the southwestern part of the Town of Warwick.
The SES building also hosts the Warwick Satellite Program (BOCES) for special needs students from throughout Orange County.
Instructional program offerings include special programs for developmental growth in the fine arts and physical education, as well as mandated services to meet the needs of all children.
A component of the Partners-In-Education Program (P.I.E.) for grades K-4 is also housed at Sanfordville Elementary School. P.I.E. is multi-graded, utilizes the talents and resources of parents as partners in learning and adheres to an integrated thematic approach to instruction.
The Sanfordville school community of students, parents and staff, work collaboratively to promote excellence in education. In its short history, Sanfordville students have distinguished themselves by achieving at the highest levels on State, National and District assessments. This is a tribute to the hard work of students, encouragement and support of parents, dedication of the teaching staff and the high expectations of Administration and the Board of Education. In keeping with this tenet, Sanfordville students are traditionally recognized as “Pioneers of the 21st Century.”
Our academic program
Our elementary schools have an average class size of 20 students. The New York State Standards-based curriculum is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure its focus on basic academic skills, with emphasis on problem-solving, critical thinking and good study habits. Elementary students receive regular instruction in art, music, physical education, health and library/research skills. In addition, youngsters may choose to participate in a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities. Warwick’s elementary schools consistently exceed similar Orange County school districts on the New York State Assessments. Our K-12 music program is highly recognized at both the county and state levels, with instruction in band and strings beginning in grade 4.
