Park Avenue student council kicks off spring service project
The Park Ave Student Council kicked off its spring service project this week.
The Student Council is excited to partner up with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF) for its spring service project. Their school-wide, two-week coin drive will raise money to help with ongoing and much needed research into childhood cancer. Student council members made the rounds of Park Avenue Elementary on Thursday, handing out coin jars for each classroom, so students could donate change over the next two weeks.
They also shared the story of ALSF founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott.
ALSF began as a front yard lemonade stand that Alex, then just four years old, set up at her home in 2000. She told her family she wanted to run a lemonade stand to raise money that could help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since then, ALSF has evolved into a national fundraising movement, with thousands of supporters nationwide carrying on Alex’s legacy of hope.
Why donate? Thanks for asking! Here’s what the members of the Park Avenue Student Council have to say about that…
