Park Avenue fiction fair celebrates students’ favorite reads

February 9, 2024

Ms. McPherson’s second grade class at Park Avenue have been reading and writing all about fiction and realistic fiction books. To celebrate — and share with others — some of their favorite books, the class planned a Fiction Fair, and invited parents, faculty and administration to stop by!

First, students each picked a book to read, and quickly found that they just couldn’t put them down. They created reports that rated their book and gave details (no spoilers, of course) about why they loved the book. They also wrote about their favorite parts of the plot.

Next, students let their creativity shine, using supplies from the classroom Lightbulb Lab and supplies generously donated by parents to create a project to accompany their reports.

“Each project was unique and so well done,” said Ms. McPherson. “I am so proud of each and every one of them!”

Finally, the students added the titles of “books they couldn’t wait to read” onto their Must Read Book Lists.

“This was such a special event,” added Ms. McPherson, “and we are so grateful that the parents and Principal Biniaris were able to come and enjoy the outcome of the students’ hard work!”
