Julia Roome and her great voice… on The Voice!

September 29, 2023

Congratulations (and wow!) to Warwick’s own Julia Roome, who knocked it out of the park during her blind audition on NBC’s vocal competition, The Voice!

For her audition, Julia performed the 1931 classic “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” Coaches Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani were both impressed and spun their chairs around, sending the youngest competitor in the field onto the next round.

WVMS chorus teacher and Ukulele Club advisor Shane Peters gathered Julia’s chorus-mates together in the cafeteria to watch a re-run of Julia’s stellar interpretation of the song on the big screen!

“From the moment I met Julia back in fifth grade, it was quite clear that she possessed some amazing skills and talent, and she does it all,” said WVMS chorus teacher Shane Peters. “If she wasn’t on the softball field, you could find her at Ukulele Club rehearsal. If she wasn’t preparing a solo for the chorus concert, she’d be playing her violin.”

You can check out this WVCSD Artist of the Week about Julia from 2020, which illustrates the characteristic determination, passion and energy that she’s brought to her journey on The Voice!

“I can confidently say, on behalf of all her teachers, that it’s just amazing seeing Julia pursue her dreams,” said Mr. Peters. “While I miss having her voice in chorus, it’s just so wonderful that she now gets to share it with the world. Julia, we are so proud of you!”

Good luck, Julia!
