Effective September 3, 2024, there are anticipated vacancies for Teacher Aide (Instructional) in the Warwick Valley Central School District. These positions will be considered 10 months, 3.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Teacher Aides (Instructional) assist the classroom teachers in the performance of their teaching functions by performing those non-teaching duties otherwise performed by such regular teacher or teachers.  Duties are assigned to teacher aides in a manner that enables them to relieve the licensed/certified teacher to attend directly to matters of instruction.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: general intelligence; ability to establish good relationships with children and others; familiarity with classroom routine; good background or knowledge in the specific field where specialized duties are involved; resourcefulness in conducting above described activities indirectly related to the teaching process; neat personal appearance; ability to maintain discipline; tact; courtesy; good judgment; and good physical condition.

Minimum qualifications are graduation from high school, successful completion of twelve (12) credits of college course work, and six (6) months of experience working with school-age children.

School Security Aide

There are anticipated vacancies for School Security Aide in the Warwick Valley Central School District. These positions will be considered 10 months, 4 hours, 15 minutes per day, Monday through Friday, schedule assigned to meet the needs of the District.

School Security Aides are responsible for security control of a school building and the surrounding grounds. Security Aides direct visitors to various offices and monitor student activities in areas of the campus. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Building Principal in accordance with established policies and procedures and requires the exercise of independent judgment in response to student disturbances. Does related work as required.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: good knowledge of crowd control and security measures in a school setting; ability to deal effectively with a school-age population and the general public; ability to decide on an appropriate course of action; ability to maintain order; good interpersonal and human relations skills; sound judgment to act in emergency situations; maturity; good powers of observation; mental alertness; reliability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

These positions are competitive by the Orange County Department of Human Resources. Current competitive School Security Aides are eligible for transfer; all other candidates must be eligible via the certified List of Eligibles from the Orange County Department of Human Resources. Should there not be a List of Eligibles, appointment will be provisional pending successful completion of an examination and placement on a List of Eligibles. Minimum qualifications are graduation from high school or possession of a high school diploma and security or law enforcement experience.

Special Requirement: Must possess at time of application (and maintain throughout employment), a current identification card reflecting registration by the State of New York, Division of Licensing Services, as a Security Guard.

There are anticipated vacancies for School Bus Drivers in the Warwick Valley Central School District Transportation Department for various routes.  These positions will be considered 10 months, Monday through Friday, with an estimated time of 5 hours and 30 minutes, schedule assigned by School Bus Route to meet the needs of the District.

The work involves responsibility for driving a school bus on an assigned route and may require the performance of minor maintenance tasks in connection with such operation.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:  good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations; ability to operate a bus under difficult driving or hazardous road conditions; ability to make minor repairs to the vehicle; general intelligence; ability to establish good relationships with children and others and command their respect; mechanical aptitude; mental alertness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum qualifications at time of appointment are possession of a valid and clean Class B Commercial Driver License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement (CDL-B w/PS) and that the candidate is at least 21 years of age.  Training is available if needed.

There is a vacancy for a School Monitor/Attendant One on One in the Warwick Valley Central School District Transportation Department.  This position is a 10 month, Monday – Friday position with an estimated time of 2 hours and 20 minutes in the morning (6:55AM – 9:15AM) and 2 hours and 25 minutes in the afternoon (1:20PM – 3:45PM). Total time per day is 4 hours and 45 minutes, schedule assigned by the Transportation Department to meet the needs of the District.

Rte. #58 with an estimated time of 1 hour and 45 minutes in the morning (6:35AM – 8:20AM) and 3 hours in the afternoon (1:30PM – 4:30PM) (Pine Island BOCES/Elementary school standby).  Total time per day is 4 hours and 45 minutes.
