Elementary scientists share knowledge, wow parents at STEM Fairs
Park Avenue and Sanfordville Elementary Schools both hosted their 2023 STEM Fairs on Wednesday evening. The schools were buzzing with activity as large crowds of parents and family members strolled the halls, gymnasiums, and cafeterias, learning as they went.
Some STEM projects challenged students to apply the ‘Engineering Design Process’ to solve real world problems. The process includes: the Ask… the Imagine… the Plan… the Create… and the Improve steps to solving problems.

Between both schools, there were more than 150 student projects on display, complete with detailed presentation boards and live demonstrations. Families were invited to try science experiments of their own, including making “tornadoes in a bottle.” Everyone had a great time checking out model rockets, laser printer demonstrations, and even a prismatic laser show!

At Park Avenue, a special thank you goes out to event chair Ms. Montalto. At Sanfordville, thank you to Ms. Besimer, Ms. Cancel, Ms. Whittemore. Thank you, also, to the many teachers, student and PTA volunteers who worked together to plan and staff this year’s STEM Fairs.
