Community Message: A Loss to Our School Community
Dear Warwick Valley School Community,
It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that I share that our District has recently experienced the loss of seven year old Axel Sevar, a beloved second grader who attended Sanfordville Elementary School. He was a student in Ms. Sukennikoff’s and Ms. Agostinoni’s class.
He is survived by his sister, Selma Sevar and his loving parents Jobeth Leon and Pierre-Yves Sevar, who wish to extend the following message to the Warwick community.
“Our dear Axel passed away this week because of an arteriovenous malformation (AVM.) He was taken away from us way too soon but at the end of his life he transformed into a true superhero when he gave gifts to help save the lives of three other children. His beautiful smile and joyful personality will continue to live on in all the people he came in contact with. He was truly special.”
At this time no arrangements have been made but there will be a celebration of his life planned very soon. We will continue to work closely with the family to support them as well as compassionately supporting Selma when she returns to school. We will also continue to have support in place this week, next week, and as needed for classmates, friends and teachers needing assistance.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Axel’s family as we wish them strength and comfort through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Dr. David Leach
Superintendent of Schools
