American Cancer Society receives Pink Out Day donation

November 15, 2024

Warwick Valley Central School District donated all proceeds from its annual Pink Out Day to the American Cancer Society today, giving ACS $6,385.34! Students were encouraged to wear pink on October 25 to raise awareness of breast cancer and show support for those affected by it. There were various fundraisers throughout the schools. For example, long sleeve awareness T-shirts were sold throughout October and the middle school Student Senate sold pink-themed items, such as bracelets, pins and necklaces.

The district collected a total of $18,517.06, with all proceeds ($6,385.24) going to ACS. The district has given a total of $23,016.03 in lifetime donations.

The event wouldn’t have been successful without the following people:

  • The middle school Student Senate
  • Jim O’Brien and the high school Student Senate (shirt sales)
  • Amanda Undersinger at Sanfordville Elementary School (shirt sales)
  • Inga Mezzetti at Park Avenue Elementary School (shirt sales)
  • Millie Rivera (district office shirt sales)
  • Kristin Donnelly (transporting shirts to Park Avenue) and Sonia Melendez (PTA social media)
  • The teachers who gave up their lunch period to help on Pink Out Day
