Wildcats Fall Sports Update (Oct. 16, 2024)
FOOTBALL
Senior night proved to be a magical moment for the 25 seniors on the Warwick varsity football team, as the Wildcats defeated Pine Bush 43-28 to improve their undefeated record to 6-0. Warwick is currently ranked 9th in New York State by the New York State Sports Writers Association (Class A).
Quarterback Brody Frederick completed 21 of 27 passes for 305 yards, three touchdowns, and two two-point conversions. Wide receiver Dylan Sullivan caught 10 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Sullivan recorded five catches for 60 yards and contributed 134 yards on kick-off returns, including an 84-yard return for a touchdown. Anthony Mazza caught a 28-yard touchdown pass, and Wyatt Vreeland, Aaron Callender, and Giacomo Abbate each had a catch. Aaron Callender rushed for two touchdowns behind a dominant offensive line of Michael Miller, Michael Hennessy, Matt Lupkovich, Brayden Harrison, Tom Ronan, and Grant Havell. The offensive line has not allowed a sack in six games.
The defense was led by linebacker Wyatt Vreeland (11 tackles), Grant Havell (eight tackles), and Colton Senius (seven tackles). Siebert and defensive back Matt Abel each had interceptions, and defensive lineman Casey Smith recovered a fumble caused by Matt Lupkovich and Tom Ronan. Cole Haskew was a perfect 3-3 on extra points, as the special teams continue to shine.
Warwick travels to Wallkill on Friday night for a Class A contest at Wallkill High School. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

GIRLS SWIMMING
Warwick girls swim finished off the regular season with an impressive win hosting Middletown. The win finishes the wildcats season with a 6-5 record, including the final 6 wins in a row. This meet was the final home meet for 4 senior swimmers Lily Burrows, Valerie Cardozo-zapata, Angelina Kanz, Ciara Kelly and diver, Talia Potempa. Podium finishes of 12 Gold sweeping the entire meet, 6 Silver and 6 Bronze finishes. The team totaled 9 PRs and 3 seasons bests. Addison Kleveno, Josephine Lorentzen, and Hilary Kleinman had 2 PRs each while Ciara Kelly, Emma Predmore and Angelina Kanz had 1 each. Seasons best by Ciara Kelly, Valerie Cardozo-Zapata, and Jasmine Lorentzen.
Warwick Girls swim won their 5th meet in a row 115-48 against Wallkill to improve to 5-4 on the season. The team had 4 PRs and 3 Seasons best, but exploded for 10 Gold place finishes, 6 Silver and 5 Bronze. PRs from Ciara Kelly coming in 1st place and Caitlyn Coyle both in the 100 yard backstroke, Kamryn Kleveno also coming in 1st place in the 100 yard Breaststroke and Madelyn Sarnicki in the 500 yard Freestyle. Lily Burrows(100breaststroke), Jasmine Lorentzen (200 Freestyle), and Valerie Cardozo-Zapata (200 IM) finished with seasons bests.

GIRLS TENNIS
Congratulations to the team for capturing the OCIAA team championship with a victory over Monroe-Woodbury. Good luck in the Section 9 team championship match against Wallkill on Oct. 19 at Monticello High School.
BOYS SOCCER
The Wildcats celebrated Senior Night at C. Ashley Morgan Field with a 3-0 victory over Valley Central on Oct. 9. Eric Bethmann scored all three goals, and Dylan.
GIRLS SOCCER
The Wildcats dropped a close game to Valley Central 1-0 on Oct. 10 and were defeated by Goshen 3-2 on Oct. 8.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
The Wildcats came out on top against Minisink Valley with a big victory 23-35 to take their season record to 5-3 in league competition on Oct. 8. The team was led once again by Leo Shostal who took home first place in a time of 16 minutes, 21 seconds. Following Leo, the Wildcats used a 21-second spread over the next four runners, with Collin Freet 17:37, Liam Astbury 17:48, RJ Dovico 17:56 and AJ Kobrick 17:58. After this victory, the Wildcats took to the track under the lights of the home varsity football game against Pine Bush on Oct. 11 to race at halftime in an intrasquad mile time trial to begin their V02 max training phase as they head into championship season. The race resulted in Leo Shostal, Jake Cosco, and Jake Tannar leading the way.
