Six more Wildcats sign National Letters of Intent

Six more Wildcats signed their National Letters of Intent (NLI) during a ceremony in the WVHS Media Center on Friday.  An NLI is a form completed to indicate a student’s commitment to play sports at NCAA colleges and universities. 

The six Wildcats signing letters today join 18 others who signed their letters earlier this year. Students, faculty, administration, family and friends once again packed the WVHS Media Center to celebrate the occasion, the students’ hard work and successes.

Alexa Borner
Warwick Senior Cheerleader

National Letter of Commitment to cheer at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Sacred Heart  competes in the NCAA Northeast Conference for most sports. Other member schools include Wagner, Stonehill College, Duquesne University and Central Connecticut State.  Alexa was recruited by Head Coach Christina “CJ” Sereno. She chose Sacred Heart University over Monmouth University and Bryant. She plans to major in Communications and Digital Marketing

Career Highlights

  • 6 Year Varsity Cheerleader  – 3 Year Captain
  • 4 time National Cheer Association (NCA)  All American 
  • 1 time Universal Cheer Association (UCA)  All American
  • 4 time NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete and team MVP for Cheer 

Academic Accomplishments

  • cumulative Grade Point Average 94.82 % 
  • coursework includes OCCC Algebra, OCCC Trigonometry and  College Business (Mount St. Mary) 
  • National Honor Society, Sports Medicine Club  and SADD Club Member

Riley Tully
Warwick Senior Cheerleader

National Letter of Commitment to cheer at the University of Albany in Albany, New York. Albany competes in the  NCAA Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) for most sports . Other member schools include Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Villanova and Stony Brook. Riley was recruited by Head Coach Taylor Mantica. She chose Albany over Sacred Heart and the University of Delaware. She plans to major in Biological Sciences.

  • 5 year varsity athlete
  • UCA All American nominee – Level 6 All Star Cheerleader
  • NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete 

Academic Accomplishments

  • cumulative Grade Point Average 90.14
  • coursework includes AP Government, PLTW Medical Intervention, Principles of Biomedical Sciences 
  • National Honor Society Member

Harrison Neil
Warwick Senior Basketball Player

National Letter of Commitment to play basketball  at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute  in Troy,  New York. RPI  competes in the NCAA Liberty League for basketball. Other member schools include Union College, Ithaca College and Vassar.  Harrison  was recruited  by Assistant Coach James Holmes. He chose RPI over Connecticut College, Union and St. Lawrence University.   He plans to major in Business and Management.

  • 4 year varsity player and 2 time captain 
  • 4 time NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete 
  • 2 time Section IX All Star – led team in points, rebounds and block shots

Academic Accomplishments

  • cumulative Grade Point Average 95.76 – National Honor Society
  • coursework includes AP Government, College Statistics, OCCC Algebra, OCCC Trigonometry 
  • 4 time NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete – US Army Academic All American

Jacob Gonzalez

National Letter of Commitment to play basketball  at Alfred State College in Alfred,  New York. Alfred   competes in the NCAA Allegheny Conference  for basketball. Other member schools include Pitt Bradford, Penn State Altoona and La Roche.  Jacob  was recruited  by Head Coach Jack Dignan. He chose the Pioneers over Cobleskill, Gordon College and Pratt University.   He plans to major in Sports Management..  

Career Highlights

  • 3 year varsity player and 2 time captain 
  • Section IX and BCANY All Star selection 
  • 2 time NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete – averaged 12 points, 4 rebounds and led team in assists 2 years

  • coursework includes AP Government, College Intro to Business, AP Physical Education 
  • 2  time NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete

Ronan Mattson
Warwick Senior Baseball Player

National Letter of Commitment to play basketball  at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.   Lycoming  competes in the NCAA Mid Atlantic Conference  for baseball. Other member schools include Marywood University, Wilkes University and Gettysburg.  Ronan was recruited  by Assistant Coach Zac Cronk. He chose the Warriors over  Plattsburgh, Nichols College and SUNY Sullivan.   He plans to major in Pre-veterinary Science.  

Career Highlights

  • 3 year varsity starter (pitcher) and 2.90 ERA
  • 50 strikeouts in 31 innings Section IX and BCANY All Star selection

Academic Accomplishments

  • cumulative Grade Point Average 83.92
  • coursework includes Veterinary Science, Chemistry and Government 
  • 2  time NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete

Brody Banker
Warwick Senior Soccer and Tennis Player

National Letter of Commitment to play soccer at SUNY Polytechnic in Utica, New York.  SUNY Poly competes in the NCAA North Atlantic Conference  for soccer. Other member schools include Husson College, SUNY Canton, Northern Vermont Lyndon and Maine Maritime.  Brody was recruited by Head Coach Peterson Jerome. He chose the Wildcats over Clarkson University.   He plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.  

Career Highlights

  • played center back for Section IX soccer champs
  • played for Fox Soccer Academy and Warwick Soccer Club
  • 4 year varsity tennis player and team captain for 2023 season 

Academic Accomplishments

  • Cumulative Grade Point Average 99.11
  • coursework includes AP Calculus BC, AP Physics, SUNY Orange Trigonometry and Algebra II 
  • 4 year NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete 
  • National Honor Society
