WVHS Faculty hold on to defeat WVMS/Elementary Faculty

Warwick’s 2024 UltaMania drew more than 1000 fans, who turned out to support their teachers in the annual faculty basketball game that pits WVHS faculty team against the WVMS and WV Elementary faculty team. This year’s game game came down to the last seconds, as WVHS defeated the WVMS/Elementary in a 63-62* thriller.

The night’s many highlights included a possible 4-point basket scored by the WVHS team, which may have affected the outcome. Fun was had by all. Halftime dances were led by Coach McElroy and Coach Myers (Sanfordville Elementary) with over 500 people getting on the court to do the Cotton Eye Joe, the Cupid Shuffle, and other fan favorite dances (which, interestingly, are part of our elementary phys ed curriculum)!

Thank you to the people and organizations whose work behind the scenes make this event possible: Lions Club member George McManus, Heidi Thonus, Rocco Manno, elementary school physical education teachers Patricia Gillen, Robert Maslanka and Gregory Sirico, Jr., and Coach Myers, who also ran the foul shooting championships on Friday night, with more than 1300 students participating at the building level.

The UltaMania event collected more than $6000 to benefit Lions Club charities and the WVTA Scholarship Fund.

* the final score of the game remains “under review” due in no small part to that 4-pointer… ; )
