WVMS Wildcats footballers honor two more teachers

October 1, 2024

The WVMS Wildcats modified football team continued its My Jersey, Your Impact teacher gratitude campaign this week, leading up to its afternoon match-up against NFA! Once again this week, two Wildcat modified football players have shared their jersey’s with a teacher whose guidance has made a big impact on them during their middle school experience.

The jerseys were shared at the start of gameday today, and the teachers can display (or even wear!) them up until the time the team heads out for kick-off!

This week, we have…

Tommy Keenan & Ms. Rueckert

Tommy has been a huge addition to the Wildcats football family! Tommy is a terrific athlete who already excels in baseball, and has blown away his football coaches with his natural instincts on the football field. Tommy scrambled for an 80 yard touchdown on his first ever snap, and his composure, resiliency, and grit helped lead the Wildcats to their massive come-from-behind win versus the Minisink Warriors.

Tommy chose to share his jersey with his eighth grade social studies teacher, Ms. Rueckert, with whom Tommy has felt an immediate connection. He knows that Ms. Rueckert truly cares about each and every student that she has, and that this year in social studies — just like his football season — is going to be nothing short of exceptional!

Michael Ross & Ms. Padilla

Michael is a tight end for the Wildcats, who brings the right attitude and a strong work ethic to every practice and game. He is always ready to compete, always listening to his coaches, and always has the best questions whenever a new concept is being taught. An extremely coachable player, Michael has developed a thorough understanding of the entire Wildcats playbook. He is a great football player and an even better person, bringing his terrific attitude and approach to everything he does. Michael has the right attitude for a winning culture, always putting forth his best effort and looking out for others.

Michael chose to share his jersey with his seventh grade math teacher, Ms. Padilla, whose class Michael says has been his “greatest class ever.” He appreciated that she was always available for extra help, and believes she was a big part of his success in math class!
