Senior Soloists

Sydney Stripe

Sydney has been playing violin for 6 years, with a small hiatus in between. Starting her musical journey at a young age, she picked up the violin in 3rd grade and played all throughout fifth grade. Not having her own instrument, throughout middle school she always wondered if she’d play ever again. After moving to Warwick, she had revived her musicianship her Freshman year of high school, all thanks to Mrs. Maynard. She started out last chair in the WVHS Symphony Orchestra, not knowing what an octave was, and moved up to the Chamber Orchestra within a year. By her Junior year in High School, she held the position of Assistant Concertmaster. She had the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall several times, and participated in Senior High All County, Area All-State and NYSSMA festivals. Alongside playing the violin, she is a Wildcat Ambassador and is a member of NHS. Sydney would specifically like to thank Mrs. Maynard for bringing her out of her comfort zone many times and pushing her to always see the brighter side of things. Additionally, she would like to thank her family, friends, and past music teachers, for all their support, and specifically her parents for building her appreciation for good music since she was very little.

Elaina Schlesinger

Elaina has been playing violin for 9 years and has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra for 4. She has also participated in All-County and NYSSMA for the past four years, including Area-All State her senior year, and has been a member of both Wire Choir and Fiddle Frenzy since Middle School. She plans on majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Environmental Science in the fall, however she hopes to continue playing and performing in college. She would like to thank her middle school and high school music directors, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Maynard, for fueling her love of music, as well as her family and friends for their endless support.

Andrew Redling

Andrew has been playing violin for the last 9 years, serving as Concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra, as well as Concertmaster, Assistant Concertmaster, and principal second violin of the Chamber Orchestra over the course of the last two years. Additionally, he sings in the meistersingers honors choir and plays viola on the side. He has participated in many music festivals as well as ensembles, such as Area All-State, All-County, NYSSMA, the William Paterson College Orchestra, and the Hudson Valley Performing Arts Foundation Youth Orchestra. Andrew is currently the President of the Orchestra Department, but has also been the department Secretary in past years, as well as being Vice President of the Wire Choir Pops Orchestra club for the last two years. Academically speaking, he is a member of the National Honor Society, has made Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude all four years of High School, and has been awarded the Senator James Skoufis Award for outstanding volunteerism in his community. Andrew is passionate about his goal of becoming a music educator, where he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his music teacher, Mrs. Maynard. He would like to thank the Music Department for all of their support, as well his family and friends who have encouraged him over the years!
