WVHS artists display their work at Albert Wisner Public Library
Albert Wisner Public Library is currently hosting a community art exhibit entitled Still Life: Beyond the Ordinary, which features works by local artists that celebrate the beauty of everyday objects. It is one of three exhibitions in the coming weeks that will feature Warwick Valley artists, including the Orange County Arts Council’s Arts Build Confidence showcase, coming up this weekend at the Galleria at Crystal Run, and the 2025 Scholastic Awards Exhibit opening the following week at SUNY New Paltz. (More to come on both of those soon.)
Twelve of the artists whose work is being shown in the Albert Wisner exhibition are Warwick Valley High School students who are currently enrolled in Kristen Spano’s Portfolio & Art Career class. Portfolio class is for juniors and seniors who plan to pursue a career in an art-related field, and who are working on college portfolio reviews for acceptance into a collegiate art program. The course demands advanced drawing and design skills and the ability to work in an variety of mediums. The Albert Wisner art show welcomed submissions in all mediums, so long as the piece captured “the timeless essence of still life.”
Still Life: Beyond the Ordinary will be on display through March 31, and we encourage you to visit the library and see the pieces hung together alongside those from other local artists. In the meantime, here is a look at the pieces by Warwick Valley High School students.
