WVCSD holds annual STEAM Fair and Art Show
WVCSD’s annual STEAM Fair and Art Show was an awesome showcase of our students’ talent, skills, creativity and ingenuity.
The art show in the gymnasium featured a variety of mediums and artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade including paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, ceramics and pottery.
It was amazing to see the progression of artwork from kindergarten students just starting out to high school students, including some who will be pursuing art as a career or college major in the near future.
The WVMS STEAM Fair in the old gym gave students an opportunity to practice scientific thinking and problem solving through interactive, hands-on investigations and inventions.
Piper Stewen and Leah Scalo won first prize with “Baking Bonanza” and Oculus Quest 3 VR Goggles. There was tie for second place between Jaxsen Mita with “Spoiled Milk” and Noah Carillo with “Heron’s Fountain”. Second-place winners received a 3D Printing Pen. Jane Cornelius, with “Smokers Lungs vs. Healthy Lungs”, took home third prize and a $50 Amazon Gift Card.
Special thanks go to Dr. David Leach and the Board of Education for their ongoing support and to the teachers parents and students who volunteered their time to make this a fun community event.
Thanks also go out to the Warwick Valley School District Art Department teachers for volunteering their time and organizing the Art Show, to the WVMS PTA for their prize donations and decorations, to the custodial and technology staff who ensured that the event was equipped properly and effectively, to Mr. (and Mrs.) Algera and Ms. Tehseldar for volunteering their time at the slime station, to all of the students who volunteered to face paint or draw henna tattoos, to Mrs. Toni Ann Pappas, Mrs. Lisa Pesola and Mrs. Kristen Spano for all of their help organizing this event and to our Warwick Volunteer Fire Department for volunteering their time to set up the BBQ under the coordination of Robert and Toniann Pappas.
