What’s going on in the classroom? Thanks for asking…
If you follow our WVCSD Facebook page, then you know we do regular check-ins to see what’s going on day-to-day around the four buildings, from classroom explorations to all kinds of athletics, arts and extracurricular activities. If you don’t check in on the page, here’s your chance to take a peek at some of our recent posts.
Sanfordville students teamed up to solve math problems in Mr. Haber’s second grade class. The students learned about number places, including hundreds, tens and ones. They even wrote numbers in expanded form and solved problems involving those numbers!
All four WVCSD schools worked with members of the Warwick Valley Gardeners to plant native plants using a grant obtained by the gardeners group from the National Garden Club. The National Garden Club awards only four Operational Wildflower Grants each year, to cover the expenses of an educational program on the subject of native plants and wildflowers. This has been a year-long project which also included educational symposiums in the schools, and a Pollinator Festival with native plantings at Mistucky Creek.
Disc golf is not only growing in popularity across the nation, it’s becoming a favorite in phys ed classes too! Sanfordville students took advantage of the warm and sunny fall weather to work on their disc golf skills in class last week.
WVHS students in Mr. Barchi’s Human Body Systems class are learning the names and locations of muscles on the human skeleton. The students are also learning about origin and insertions, the two locations where muscles attach to bone. The class worked in teams to add the chest and arm muscles on their skeletal maniken using the terra cotta clay.
