Warwick musicians take part in Junior High All-County Festival

May 10, 2024

Congratulations to the 23 Warwick Valley musicians selected to the 2024 Orange County Music Educators Association Junior High All-County Festival ensembles! The All-County Festival, which features musicians from grades seven through nine, took place last weekend at Monroe Woodbury High School.

To earn a selection to an OCMEA ensemble, students must prepare a solo audition piece. For the auditions, students must also be prepared to perform scales in multiple keys and octaves, and sight read a piece of music presented to them on the spot.

The OCMEA All-County Junior High Festival is a two-day event, during which students participate in rehearsals on Friday and Saturday, leading up to the performance on Saturday evening. OCMEA weekends afford participating students unique learning experiences that encourage creative collaboration with their peers and result in memories (and knowledge!) they will hold onto forever.

Congratulations to all of the students whose hard work earned them a a chair in one of this year’s ensembles!
