Modified Wildcats honor teachers before week two game
The WVMS Wildcats modified football team continued its My Jersey, Your Impact teacher appreciations week’s, with two more players sharing their jerseys with a teacher who has made a personal impact on their middle school careers!
Chuck Ronan & Mr. Kelly
Chuck Ronan is the Wildcats’ starting tight end, and part of a select group of students who have started for the modified team in both their seventh and eighth grade seasons. Chuck is a dynamic run blocker with terrific hands. In addition to playing football, Chuck plays lacrosse year round, and is currently participating in fall ball with Cats Lax. Chuck chose to share his jersey with math teacher and lacrosse coach Mr. Kelly. Chuck said that Coach Kelly does a great job breaking down the math and making it easy to understand. He also appreciates that Mr. Kelly is always willing to help him out with anything.
Attis Kyrtsis & Mr. Garcia
Although new to football, Attis has made an immediate impact on both sides of the ball for the Wildcats! He is a starting left guard on offense and starting defensive end on defense. One of Attis’s best strengths is his coachability, and he has quickly learned the Wildcats’ playbook, perfected his three-point stance, and done a near perfect job “containing the edge,” one of the most important jobs in a modified football game. In addition to football, Attis plays baseball year round and was one of only six seventh graders to make the modified baseball team last year. Attis chose to share his jersey with physical education teacher and baseball coach Mr. Garcia. Coach Garcia was a three-sport high school athlete himself, and Attis appreciates the valuable experience and know-how that Coach provides. Attis remembers Coach Garcia throwing for him in batting practice, and getting feedback that really helped his swing. This winter, Attis is planning on becoming a three-sport athlete as well, by going out for the wrestling team.
