school music students perform "live" for troops in Iraq and
Germany
Dec. 15, 2008 - To make sure the men and women serving in Iraq and those hospitalized with combat injuries in Germany know they have not been forgotten this holiday season, more than 800 students from eight school districts came together today to give them a special gift - a festive holiday concert broadcast live via the Intranet.
For the second consecutive year, the young musicians united to present a "virtual" concert for many of the U.S. troops who will be away from their own children and families for the holidays. This year's

concert was broadcast to three overseas locations: two forward operating bases in Iraq and the largest American military hospital outside of the United States - Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. The musical performances were broadcast from schools in Orange and Sullivan counties where each of the participating bands and choral groups took turns performing a selection of songs.
The special holiday concert was organized by former Warwick Middle School Assistant Principal and current Chester Middle School Principal, Ernest Jackson, a retired Army lieutenant colonel. Coordinating things in Warwick was Assistant Principal Robert Albanese, himself an active lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve.
